Somatic Movement Practitioners
Somatic Movement achieves optimal physical, cognitive, and emotional performance in people’s personal and professional life using 5 Pillars Somatics. The 5 Pillars are:

1. Somatic Movement Practitioners work with Soma-Mapping. Soma-Mapping charts the structural and functional aspects of the body’s natural intelligence with the aim of creating Balance and Integration in people's lives.
2. The Embody, Embrace and Empower Process provides the guiding principle for working with processes.
3. PEACE-ful communication: Uses the principles of Presence, Ease, Affectivity, Creativity and Effectiveness to guide all verbal and non-verbal interactions.
4. Experiential Learning is used and is based on interweaving knowledge, experience and intuition.
5. Somatic Movement Practitioners apply the following Skills: embodied awareness; manual and verbal skills; posture, gesture and motion; as well as breathing and vocalisation.
The Training
The emphasis in the Somatic Movement Practitioner Certification Programme is to develop strong competencies in working with Balance and Integration principles and techniques.
The Balance and Integration principles and techniques are grounded in the programmes extensive study of the body’s structural and functional aspects (through anatomy, physiology, embryogenesis, and kinesiology).
The Balance and Integration Areas of Study are:
Balance:
External Balance: aligning oneself and responding to the outside forces in life.
Internal Balance: staying vital to meet the challenges.
Integration:
Development: growth and transformation.
Organisation: the ability to value and therefor make choices.
Guidance: putting life in perspective.
5 Pillars Somatics seeks to Balance ones sensitivities and stressors, with one’s ones strengths and support mechanisms and Integrate these in an effective and constructive relationship to the environment. The Integrative and Balancing interventions relate directly to issues in people’s lives.
The curriculum offers extensive training in 5 Pillars Somatics. The 5 Pillars are utilized as the method of learning and teaching the core principles and techniques of SMI Balance and Integration curriculum.
The Training applies a holographic view on the process of learning. The content of each Modules reflects the content of the other Modules. As the material is presented from different perspectives the understanding is deepened. In the Training the emphasis is on Experiential Learning utilizing intuition, experience and knowledge to educate aware and effective Somatic Movement Practitioners. It includes the recognition of individual learning styles .
The Modules are arranged according to the Balance and Integration principles and techniques.
