A future through hockey. Worldwide we stimulate the growth of hockey development programs. We develop a sustainable sport environment, in which dreams become reality and adults and children can develop themselves personally, socially and sportive wise.
April 2012 the Hockey Dreams Foundation was founded by Gijs Hardeman after he worked at the Zambian hockey pitch with the local coaches for half a year. During that time he experienced what sport could do to people. Hockey Dreams symbolized therefore the safety net for coaches, who had access through first life needs such as food and a place to live because of the sport. IN many African countries hockey is a small sport run by volunteers who does not have access to equipment. The sport is too small to become interesting for sponsors. Hockey Dreams supports hockey coaches, coming from the poor areas to become professionals. They do this through providing them a job and assist them in a more healthy and sustainable sport environment. The Hockey Dreams Foundation already supports African youth for four years through and with hockey. We create social opportunities in a healthy sport environment. We provide the coaches knowledge about hockey and educational opportunities to make them built a professional and sustainable hockey sport. We see children lighten up when they are playing hockey and we see them realizing sport as a possible future. The coaches are all from the compounds and they are being stimulated to develop themselves socially and personally and built a future. Because of Hockey Dreams the coaches can make hundreds of African children learn, play sports and have fun.
