We are an independent, impact driven organization with more than 60 years of experience. We catalyse, connect and communicate civil society initiatives in arts and culture to work together for an open, democratic and inclusive Europe.

Geschiedenis

The European Cultural Foundation is an independent foundation based in the Netherlands. We initiate and support cultural exchange and creative expression across wider Europe.

We do this because we believe culture inspires, empowers and engages people to create open and democratic societies. Our activities strengthen the connection between Europe and its citizens. We support creative people to learn, connect and transfer knowledge through the projects and grant schemes we run.

This year, ECF initiates a new four-year strategic plan based on values we firmly advocate for throughout our work: Democracy, Diversity, Trust, Solidarity, Interdependency, Independency and Equality. We believe in the power of culture in building societies that are embracing these values, and who persevere in these challenging times we are all facing. Together, we act with creativity, because democracy needs imagination.
