Geschiedenis

The TU Delft Solar Boat Team is a team consisting of 26 students from the TU Delft. Our multi-disciplinary team designs and builds a solar powered boat every year to push the boundaries of what is possible with innovative and durable techniques.
We do this to show the maritime industry that if you use sustainable energy in an efficient way, you can build a powerful boat. This way, we are making the transition to a sustainable maritime industry go faster. We have shown we are actually capable of building a boat which can reach speeds up to 55 km/h using solely solar power.
Our goal this year is to win the overall ranking of the Solar Sport One competition, held in The Netherlands as well as in Monaco. To achieve these goals we will work on designing and producing a solar boat that is stable, maneuverable, reliable and efficient. To realize this, we designed a boat that ‘flies’ on hydrofoils so that our drag is minimized.
