We are a living history group telling the history of the French soldiers involved in the liberation of the Netherlands between November 1944 and April 1945.
We also portray the British troops of No4 Army Commando and British Airborne
A forgotten fact in the liberation of the Netherlands is the part taken by the French troops. In November 1944 the French Commandos of British Army No4 Commando landed in Flushing. In April 1945 French SAS jumped in Drenthe. Even in Arnhem during Market Garden, a French officer was active in 156 Para Bn and died short after his landing. A lot of them rest in peace in the Netherlands. Few of them are buried in the French military cemetery in Kapelle (Zeeland)
Our reenactement group wants to remember them, its name is "Fransen, de vergeten bevrijders" (Frenchs, the forgotten liberators). We are part of Vereniging Historische Militaria This group is open. Everybody who wants to follow what we do, to learn who were those men is welcome. You can even become a real member and join us in the field!!!
