Founded in 2003, the European Studies Association (ESA) Maastricht - formerly known as E.S.A. Concordantia - has steadily grown to be one of the largest study associations in Maastricht. It is committed to supporting students to engage in social life and creating numerous opportunities for them to shape their future. The activities of ESA Maastricht are beneficial to not only European Studies students but also students of all other majors. Voluntary efforts of students are the main success criteria of the association.
ESA has committees which are working in various fields from organizing study trips and career events to holding parties. The Student Forum Maastricht brings together students from all over Europe to discuss pressing issues the European Union is facing. An insight into career and study opportunities is given by the European Career Committee which has invited professionals and representatives of other universities for the last years.
The activities of esa go beyond the border of Maastricht University. A project aiming at educating high-school students about the European Union is widely succesful. As part of the project, European Studies students are sent to high schools around Maastricht, giving information about EU to young pupils. Another initiative is the collaboration between Concordantia, Ouranos and the United Nations Study Association, resulting in the Debating Club Rhetorica Maastricht. This club provides a platform for people from different backgrounds to debate on a wide range of topics.
ESA Maastricht prides itself on being an association of motivated members who are willing to shape a change together.
