New interdisciplinary master's program at Tilburg University, the Netherlands. Started in September 2012. The program focusses on psychosocial, economic, political, and legal problems arising from victimization.
The master in Victimology and Criminal Justice is a unique graduate program in the world that provides a comprehensive and rigorous teaching of victimology within the framework of criminal justice systems. This inherently interdisciplinary and international oriented program welcomes outstanding students with at least a bachelor's degree in Law, liberal arts or social sciences (criminology, psychology, political science, sociology, anthropology). Two introductory courses are designed to bridge the disciplinary gaps between students; depending on their undergraduate educational background.
The Master in Victimology and Criminal Justice is located in a very good academic environment. It is administered by the International Victimology Institute Tilburg (INTERVICT); an interdisciplinary Institute of Tilburg University and the University’s first Center of Excellence. The various courses are taught by experts in victimology affiliated with INTERVICT and by renowned international guest lecturers. The interdisciplinary education of the program prepares graduates for numerous employment opportunities within bodies dealing with victim issues nationally (public and private sectors) and internationally, both in research environments as in practice.
