Hét Nederlandse festival voor de korte film!
Go Short is the main Dutch festival for short film. It takes place on a yearly basis in the city of Nijmegen.
The aim of the foundation Go Short is to contribute to the deepening and broadening of short film culture, nationally and internationally, through the organisation of an annual international film festival for short films. The foundation consists of a board and management, and is founded in accordance to the Cultural Governance Code.
Since the rise of cinema in the early 20th century, short films have been the chosen form of expression for aspiring filmmakers, and an important way for more established artists to showcase their skills. For decades, short film has taken the lead in narrative, technical and productional innovation. Short film also takes a leading role in the development of new ways of screening and distribution.
Nowadays an increasingly wide range of creatives uses this form of art. This increase in popularity is due to the global development of digitisation and democratisation of media. The increasing presence of media in daily life has led to a growth in the production of short films.
The large amount of short films on the internet is an indication of the increasing interest in short film. At the same time, this abundance makes it hard to keep track of new and interesting developments. That’s why Go Short, as the main short film festival of the Netherlands, has chosen to adopt the role of gatekeeper.
Go Short wants to promote and enrich short film culture. We will give great short films the exposure they deserve to get, on the silver screen!
