Geschiedenis

Timothy van Proosdij was born on the fourth of October in 1990 in Stanford Connecticut in the USA.
When he was 11 years old his Dutch parents decided to move back to Rotterdam in the Netherlands.
Between learning a new language and keeping up with his school work he was 14 before he came into contact with his first SLR camera.
While on a trip to Belgium he was allowed to borrow is fathers “old school” camera and he got his first glimpse at the art of photography.


At age 16 and after saving his money he was able to buy his first digital SLR camera: A Canon 300d with a kit lens on Marktplaats.nl.
Deciding what his first camera should be was tough but through the help of his teacher Mr. Nathan Kamphoff he was able to make up is mind and take the plunge.

Mr. Kamphoff helped Tim orient himself in the world of photography and
taught him everything he needed to know about photography so he could get started on his own.
Without his help and mentorship Tim would probably never had started with photography and is still thankful for his guidance.

Like most starting photographers Tim took pictures of anything and
everything to find out what piqued his interest the most.
While taking his camera to a handball match he discovered his interest in sport photography.
This landed him his first professional ‘gig’ taking pictures at sporting matches for the HAR&O team who were playing in the highest handball division.

Meanwhile, he was asked by his school teacher Mrs. Cooper (he was at that moment 16)
if he could take pictures at the school dance in exchange for free entry. He figured it would be a fun and easy job and
it sparked a new interest that has gotten him to where he is today.

Unfortunately Tim’s abilities were not yet good enough to pay for his equipment
so to be able to afford better parts he held down a job as a stocker at the Albert Heijn supermarket.
In this time he developed his new interest in event photography. Through practice, research, trial and
error he honed his photo making skills enough to land a job at FIESTAINFO.com.
In his time working there he made new contacts who were able to help him push his career forward.

At age 18 he was finally able to quit his job at the Albert Heijn and support himself on photography alone.
He focused his time and energy into making a breakthrough in the photography scene.
He acquainted himself with the nightlife and started visiting clubs and meeting new people.
While working late into the night taking pictures he found out his true interest: the people themselves.
Tim prides himself not just in taking pictures but also in his interactions with partygoers and DJ’s.
He does his best to help others break out of their shells and enjoy the party.
Using this ability he is able to catch the essence of the party on film.

Tim decided to expand his business by also making portrait photos.
In his own studio he has taken pictures that help catch people from their best angle.
His work in this field has been used to promote artists from near and far.

Currently Tim is still active in the nightlife of Rotterdam and in studio’s.
He is also currently busy with a new passion, Wedding Photography.
There is still a lot to learn but he still pushes to be the best.
His hope is to one day be the best in his field when it comes to event/studio/wedding photography.
