Ferns are primeval plants whose appearance and characteristics are perfectly attuned to this experience.

In general
When we think of ferns our first image is of magnificent single or multiple fronds that slowly unfurl from the heart of the plant in spring. In nature ferns are denizens of the woods and forests. They like moist soil that is rich in humus and prefer a spot in shade or dappled shade. Nevertheless, as long as they are not allowed to dry out, most varieties will tolerate sun well. Fully hardy ferns (sometimes also called perennial ferns) are generally resistant to cold and can enliven a garden, patio, conservatory or living room for many years.
