Geschiedenis

Welcome to the University of Amsterdam (UvA), a leading international research university in the historic city of Amsterdam. With nearly 30,000 students and 5,000 staff the UvA offers a wide range of programmes across various disciplines, including more than 160 English-taught Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes.

We aim to be a place where talent is fostered and developed, and where students and researchers engage with diverging or conflicting points of view. At the UvA, students learn to think in an original and independent way, preparing them for any future career path.

Onze taak

The UvA seeks to offer an inspiring international academic environment in which both staff and students can develop their talents optimally. Characterised by a critical, creative and international atmosphere, the UvA has a long tradition of open-mindedness and engagement with social issues, in keeping with the spirit of the city with which it is inextricably linked.

Producten

The UvA has one of the largest numbers of international Master's study programmes of any university in Europe, with over 100 taught in English and several of the courses offered being unique to the UvA.
