On Sept 30th the U.S. Coast Guard published the long awaited Non-Tank Vessel Response Plan (NTVRP) and Other Response Plan regulation in the federal register dated September 30, 2013. Mandatory compliance will be required of all applicable vessels by January 30, 2104.

The new rule requires that non-tank vessel owners operating in and out of U.S. waters enter into agreements with a Salvage and Marine Firefighting (SMFF) provider and list predefined response resources in the VRP.
SVITZER, a fully approved USCG SMFF provider is able to provide all of your salvage needs in the U.S. and Globally.

Primary critical issue for shipowners now is to contract an SMFF provider and have the VRP documentation processed by the US Coast Guard.
This requires wisely choosing a provider which will be capable of getting your fleet through this process seamlessly at a reasonable cost. And, what's most important, this partner must be experienced, financially sound and capable of handling whatever salvage cases the future might bring.
