SonoSkills is the European leader in musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSKUS) education for primary and secondary healthcare professionals
The use of ultrasound on the motor system, or musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSKUS), has increased in popularity within primary care over the last couple of years. This is not surprising, since the combination of clinical assessment, the (dynamic) use of MSKUS and functional movement learning is a domain specifically performed within the domains of physiotherapy, osteopathy, chiropractic and medical doctors/physicians.
MSKUS is used to visualize muscles, tendons, ligaments and sometimes nerves and blood vessels of the arms and legs to assess their quality, shape and function. Scientific research shows that clinical tests are often not specific enough and inadequate to come to a correct diagnosis. False positives occur often and it is important to limit these mistakes as much as possible.
