MUNO is Model United Nations Oud-Beijerland. We are a project at CSG Willem van Oranje in which we reenact the United Nations in several committees.
Model United Nations is a simulation (model) of the United Nations. Students that are participating each represent a delegate of a country in one of the Committees of the United Nations. What we expect from them is that they will research, debate on and discuss various issues that are globally existent. Examples of these are the findings of sustainable energy and world peace. This year, the Willem van Oranje organises MUNO for the fifth time. As MUNO grows, our goal is to include international students in our conference, creating some sort of global network.
MUN conferences are organised worldwide. Some examples of international conferences in the Netherlands are THIMUN in The Hague, LEMUN in Leiden and MUNA in Zoetermeer. MUNO was first organised in 2012 by a group of students who, after having attended MUNA, decided they wanted our own MUN conference. This was such a great success that our school decided to organize it annually. For 2016 our aim is to improve and expand MUNO and to provide students with a challenging, encouraging conference where they will learn to look further than what they already know.
