Geschiedenis

When the Dutch designer Mirjam de Haas emigrated from The Netherlands she was 19 years old. She lived abroad for 10 years and travelled all over the world where she instantly felt the sacredness and inviting influences of different cultures. As a foreigner Mirjam embraced an open way of life and this has been ever since the foundation for all creations.

Lora di Lora creations are holistic and stand for quality in every handmade detail, making every piece unlike any other. We design our jewellery with a message, a meaning to be shared with the world. We embrace a world where everybody is equal in their own unique way. We go into the market to listen, observe and learn to increase our potential and take responsibility to continually improve all aspects of the world we operate in; environmental, social and economic.

When we designs there is no age, race or religion on our mind, only the awareness of happiness. Every single piece you are wearing, begins with an incredible journey of passion, patience and precision. A design starts with one drawing; a reflection of a precious moment caught on a piece of paper. Our sketching process varies from 1 hour at the beach up to a week in the office, just until it makes us smile and we can hand our design over to our wonderful craftsmen. Lora di Lora is authentic, born of an intuition that touches the heart and tells a story.

Silver craftsmanship has been part of the eastern culture since ancient times. Our craftsmen create the majority of our jewellery by hand, taking up a full day for one single bracelet or ring. We deeply respect the great precision and care whereby they bring our designs to life. They have made this process to perfection; from our design, to their rendering and moulding, sharpening and polishing. Once we have all shiny separate pieces ready, our goddesses string and link parts together with the greatest patience we have ever seen.

We are united believers of FAIRTRADE and try to make a difference to the lives of our teams across India, who manufacture our so beloved jewellery. Child labour is one of the many non-negotiable fair trade standards. We make it our mission and part of our company's culture to ensure all activities are free from child labour. Sadly enough, despite all global effort, many big and well-known companies continue to fund sweatshops with cheap labour for a better profit in order to increase their success.

Our choice to manufacture and produce our jewellery in India was consciously. One of our partners travelled through India, by himself, for 3 full months, to observe and adapt lands rich culture. He travelled light, slept in ashrams only and lived by the main guiding principles of Ayurveda and the Bhagavad Gita. He was deeply touched by the hospitality; a ready smile on every face, exuding genuine happiness upon meeting a person. This journey has played an important role in the evolution and existence of Lora di Lora. We embrace the unique Indian way of life wherein respect for each other is deeply rooted.

Lora di Lora shares its success with the team because we could not have done it without the spirit of collaboration. Friendship, respect and teamwork are of great inspiration during the day.
