Indo-Dutch contacts go back to more than 400 years. Official relations, which were established in 1947, have been cordial and friendly. The Netherlands has the largest population of people of Indian origin in mainland Europe. The Embassy of India, The Hague promotes political, economic-commercial and cultural relations between the Republic of India and Kingdom of the Netherlands. It also looks after welfare of the Indian community in the Netherlands providing Consular services. It provides visa services to Dutch and other nationals intending to visit India. The Gandhi Centre (Indian Cultural Centre) looks after promotion of Indian art and culture.
