Essaidi Aqua Tilis Therapy
The Aquatilis therapy uses physics based terms to influence (undesirable) reactions and information-relay within the human body. The Aquatilis therapy analyses processes within the human body, not only from a biological and chemical perspective, as is the case in conventional medical science, but also from a physics perspective. Using this approach we can apply know-how from the classic electro- and atom physics to, for example, change characteristics of metabolic processes or influence frequencies of nerve impulses. Even though these principles are well know in the field of physics they are seldom applied in (bio)medical science.
When referring to "normal" biochemical reactions and signals, we should realise that these are defined under the "normal" conditions of the electromagnetic field surrounding the Earth. When the electromagnetic field around a living organism is altered, that will have consequences for the structure and the behaviour of molecules and cells in that organism. Space travel provides a good example of this: the altered electromagnetic field surrounding the astronauts (the loss of gravity which causes weightlessness) causes, amongst others things, the metabolic pattern in the bones to change so much that it ultimately results in osteoporosis. This is one of the leading medical challenges that long term space travel is faced with. Further it is also generally known that the dissolvability of substances (e.g. calcium deposits) can be changed by modulating (electro)magnetic fields.
With regard to certain medical problems (e.g. broken bones), the positive effects of using electromagnetic fields to assist healing has been recognised for years: with regard to orthopaedic and pain related treatments the TENS-principle (transepidermal neurostimulation) has been applied for many years.
The Aquatilis therapy makes selective use of specific electromagnetic fields to modulate certain bodily functions. These electromagnetic fields can be specifically defined (frequency, strength, etc.) and the physiological effects measured objectively.
The Aquatilis therapy focuses on situations where a process within the human body has gone wrong forming the basis for chronic illness. An important role in this procedure is known as "oxidative stress". Oxidative stress can be caused by external factors (e.g. air pollution, infection, incorrect nutrition, obesity, smoking, etc.). However, it is not always possible to ascertain whether oxidative stress is the cause or the result of a process in the body which has gone wrong. Either way, combating oxidative stress has a positive effect and usually leads to an improvement of the state of health of the patient.
Oxidative stress leads to an excessive exchange of electrons between molecules in cells and tissue. The elements involved in this process are called "free radicals": they draw away electrons from substances they come in contact with. Under normal circumstances free radicals help to regulate blood pressure and stimulate activity of the immune system. They are kept under control by anti-radicals or anti-oxidants which are present in proper (healthy) food and as a result of a healthy life-style with plenty of exercise (cells will then be able to "arm" themselves sufficiently against free radicals in the body). Oxidative stress causes a slow down of the body's counteraction of free radicals resulting in an excessive exchange of electrons (= oxidation process). This "electron storm" can cause damage (e.g. to cell membranes, to DNA, etc.). This in turn results to certain genes be activated and others deactivated. Ultimately this can result in a chronic stimulation of the body's "defence system": the immune system with its links to the nerve- and hormone systems. "Chronic Immune Stimulation" is the basis for many chronic diseases such as heart and artery diseases, neuro-degenerative diseases, cancer, lung disease and auto-immune diseases (e.g. rheumatism).
