Info A collection of simple western-style vegetarian & vegan recipes prepared daily in the ZR Temple kitchen using principles of Shojin Ryori. Geschiedenis The Zen River Cookbook is a reflection of more than twenty five years of cooking vegetarian and vegan meals. Well-tested by demanding eaters, the recipes actually often don’t even taste ‘vegetarian’ in the usual sense. Because of smart combinations of ingredients, herbs and spices, these recipes not only make for healthy, well-balanced meals, but also for complete satisfaction of taste, with inspiration drawn from a very international cuisine. All these recipes are served daily at Zen River temple during the regular training days and for oryoki meals during sesshin. The collection of recipes reflects a fusion of Zen-style cooking, known as Shojin Ryori, with East-meets-West, including short stories pertaining to the authors twenty nine years in practice.
