Cooper D'état (pronounced: /kuːpə(ɹ) d‿e.ta/) is a Dutch lyricist and rapper.

He grew up in Delft, Netherlands. The city between Rotterdam and The Hague.

He was raised by an atheist scientist as father and a Christian writer as mother.

"I used to study Speech therapy and communication. 
One evening in december 2014, my father came back from his doctor's appointment with bad news. Pancreatic cancer. Done deal."

After this, Cooper dropped out of school.

"I never was the 9 to 5 kinda guy anyway. I like other things. And to spend most of my life taking orders just to have those five years of luxury? Naah. I don't like the sound of that.

I started educating myself. 
This is the 21st century baby. We carry the biggest library in the history of mankind in our pocket these days."

During and through these events, his home situation had it's struggles of it's own. Cooper started participating in national rap battles... And won. And won. And kept winning.

"I turned out to be reaaally good at that shit. It was something to motivate me to strengthen and grow the f*ck up, without forcing it."

What was great therapy also turned out to be a vicious circle.

"The whole show is designed to see you either ace it or drown. The only border you're not allowed to cross is physical damage. So yeah, it did f*ck me up a little bit.

To feel what I do, to know what I learned, you need to be willing to put aside everything you think you know...

And enjoy it."
