Geschiedenis
We discovered in 2012 that 99,9% of all global commercial seaweed is unsustainable. In Asia, the ruling method is poluting mass farms that use manure in open sea. In Europe, the ruling method is taking natural stocks of seaweed from the ecosystem, without replanting them. That's the same as cutting the rainforest because Seaweed absorbes c02, it breathes O2, it filters water, is a nursery, and protects coastal zones from erosion. We need seaweed like we need trees! In 2012, seaweed was not a hyped trend yet, so we founded Zeewaar to start producing culinary seaweed using the only honest method out there: sustainable cultivation. Our wish was to adjust this juvinile seaweed market in Europa and make it sustainable from the start. We quit our jobs and decided to take on this challenge to sustainably grow the best tasting seaweed in clean sea water. Never looked back :-)
