A bit unusual maybe for a Dutch sheep farmer, but the size, length and growth rates were far better than those of Dutch Texels and we like to try new things. With our background of breeding Swifter sheep (a maternal Texel cross in the Netherlands) we still like to pay extra attention to maternal traits in our Texels. Easy lambing, good mothering abilities and a good milk supply are of great importance to us. Ewes can be good looking but if they don't meet these qualifications they are are culled in favour of better mothers.
