Geschiedenis
Tropenbos International (TBI) is a non-governmental organization (NGO) based in the Netherlands. It was established in 1986 in response to the ongoing concern about the disappearance and degradation of tropical rain forests worldwide. TBI is a programme of research, capacity building and institutional development, running programmes  Colombia, DR Congo, Ghana, Indonesia, Viet Nam and Suriname. Additionally we support projects in  Bolivia.

Our goal is to make sound and adequate information available to forest actors in the partner countries for use in formulating appropriate policies and managing tropical forest lands for conservation and sustainable development.

By using evidence to make conscious choices and finding the right balance between the needs of all the stakeholders involved, we contribute to sustainable solutions for forested landscapes.Tropenbos International TBI brings the knowledge together to address complex questions regarding sustainable management of forests and trees, organizes interactions with all the stakeholders and actively helps to create broad support.We started in 1986 as a Dutch non -governmental non-profit organization, in 2017 we became a network of independent member organisations."
