Info A film and a photo book with vernacular photos of the Robert F Kennedy funeral train making its way from New York City to Washington D.C. on June 8, 1968. Geschiedenis June 8, 2018 will mark the 50th anniversary of the Robert F Kennedy funeral train. About one million Americans stood along the railway, paying their respects as the train slowly made its way from New York City to Washington D.C. Inspired by the beautiful color photographs taken by Magnum photographer Paul Fusco from aboard the RFK funeral train, I dove into a search for the reverse photographic perspective: pictures and films made by the bystanders that stood along the railroad that day. On my research trips I visited almost all of the places that the funeral train passed through in an effort to track down people who took photographs of the train passing. As the project is still in process, I am still collecting photos, films, stories, or any memory of those who witnessed this historic event to this day. So far, thanks to many Americans I have collected a variety of intriguing images, numbering about 170, including blurred snapshots, black-and-white photographs, beautiful Kodachrome slides, a few 8mm home movies, and many personal stories. All these images will be bundled into a film installation and a photo book, as an alternative reflection on that day. The film installation will be on show at the MoMA in San Francisco and the International Center of Photography in New York City in 2018. The book will be published in March 2018, through this page I will keep you updated!
