The Dutch Atelier of Realist Art is a figurative drawing and painting school founded in 2018 by Dutch artist Thomas Langeveld and American artist Mischa Tranquilli, both of whom are graduates of the Angel Academy of Art, Florence.
The Dutch Atelier of Realist Art was founded in 2018 by Dutch artist Thomas Langeveld and American artist Mischa Tranquilli, a couple who met in Florence five years prior while studying classical drawing and painting. After four years of intensive training in Italy, both artists were drawn to the Netherlands when they were asked to teach at the now-defunct Classic Art Atelier, one of the only contemporary ateliers in the country during its six-year run.
After the Classic Art Atelier's abrupt closing in 2017, Thomas and Mischa collaborated with a small group of dedicated students who were determined to continue their education. Seeing an opportunity to offer classical art instruction in an atelier setting, the pair decided to open their own studio dedicated to teaching the methods of the old masters and advancing the academic tradition in the fine arts.
The student base doubled shortly thereafter, and The Dutch Atelier of Realist Art was able to open its doors in 2018
