Amsterdam- After intensive preparation we present the plans for the restoration and redevelopment of the NDSM crane 13 one of the most exclusive design hotels of The Netherlands.

A particular monument preserved for Amsterdam creating added value. That is the idea behind the development of the NDSM crane by initiator Edwin Kornmann Rudi, responsible for development and design.

The NDSM crane 13 is located in the middle of the bustling NDSM Amsterdam festival area . The state of maintenance of the crane is very bad and to avoid it will fall apart the crane will be completely restored and medio 2013 transformed into a small but exclusive design hotel. Starting point is a design without depleting the monumental and transparent character of the crane.

The project is a constructive engineering tour-de-force. The development will meet the highest requirements. The development is exceptional because of the appearance, design and the many (high tech) applications. The ambitions are of international standard.

In the crane we will realize 3 luxury suites, with their own design/contemporary art. The existing machine room at the top of the mast is being transformed into one of the three suites. Above and below the machine room are two rooms with the same volume but completely glass made. The difference between old and new is minimal, but clearly visible.

Each suite will have a surface of 35 m2, consisting of a living room and a mezzanine floor with bedroom and bathroom. The suites (all situated around 30-50 meters height) have a majestic view over the river IJ, the inner city of Amsterdam and the port area. In the portal of the crane will be realized a small catering opportunity that can be used for meetings, celebrations and parties.
