International Course on Medicinal Cannabis
In the Netherlands, pharmaceutical grade cannabis is available on doctors’ prescription, dispensed by pharmacists, and covered by most health insurance. Supervised by a government Office of Medicinal Cannabis (OMC), professional grower Bedrocan BV has brought several standardized cannabis varieties to market that meet strict pharmaceutical requirements and regulations for the control of unapproved medicines. Developments are supported by solid scientific research, with clear attention and respect for the needs of both patients and health professionals.
The 5 day course is intended for those with prior professional experience in the field of science, medicine, policy or law, and who wish to contribute to a sensible discussion on the medicinal use of cannabis. Held in the University town of Wageningen, also known as the “City of Life Sciences”, participants will explore the Dutch program first-hand, meeting many of the professionals involved. Excursions to pharmacies, universities, and laboratories throughout the Netherlands will help to better understand the Dutch culture and values that have been essential to making its medicinal cannabis program the growing success it is today.
