I have lead expeditions on RiBs to many of the worlds remotest corners - from crossing the frozen North Atlantic in an open 33ft RiB, to leading the first ever complete journey through the Arctic's infamous North West Passage.

These adventures have taught me a lot about what really matters in a sea going RIB - and my hunt to find the ultimate in robust, soft riding, ease of handling and rugged over-engineered reliability has been littered with many broken vessels that failed to stand up to the task!

But when we started extensively trialling the BG original hull design, (often in heavy offshore seas and gale force conditions), as a team, we knew we had hit upon something unique.

BG ribs had to start from an incredible hull design and then has developed out from there. But the brief has always been the same: over engineer, rugged reliability, soft, dry ride and ease of handling.

This means that as standard we build in aluminum not the more vulnerable GRP. The tubes are made of solid foam yet give all the look and shock mitigation of air tubes, (but they never deflate and are a exponentially tougher.)

The seats are made of solid foam so you have no covers to leak or crack. The electrics and rigging is built to withstand constant storm conditions.

If things fail in the wild you don't get a second chance - and key components have to work every time all the time. The BG Ribs team knew that we could build better and stronger.

You will always be able to find a cheaper RIB but you won't find a tougher, drier, softer riding one. That's our guarantee. Our goal is to be the Land Rover of the sea.

This is why I am so proud of our range of offshore craft - because it can stand the ultimate in marine adventure.

Which also means when I take the family out and it cuts up rough, then I know we are in solid hands & still able to enjoy the day when every other boat is running for port!
