ART aims to organize events for translators, editors and copywriters where we learn more about skills which are not core skills or about a market niche. ART was established in 2015 in The Netherlands.
ART was created in 2015 by Ellen Singer and Dorota Pawlak with the aim to help translators run their businesses more efficiently.
ART aims to organize events for translators where we learn more about skills which are not core translation skills or about a translation niche. ART events always include time to network with other translators and to ask questions.
We organize an annual one-day event during which three speakers address a topic we need to know about such as acquisition, creating a website, taxes, etc. followed by lunch, sightseeing and a dinner. We also organize four workshops a year. The aim of these workshops is to experience a specialization to see if it fits us or to learn enough to know how to find more information and start gaining experience.
The events are small-scale events to make sure we get to know each other and feel free to ask the presenters any and all questions we may have. After all, you do not call up an accountant, marketer, etc. just for a chat. At ART events you can have a chat, ask a question or otherwise interact with the presenters and other attendees.
The workshops focus on in-depth translation skills, on specializations. The first few workshops will be on Poetry translation, Transcreation, Regular Expressions (for translators) and Search Engine Optimization (SEO). We believe these are topics many translators would like to know more about. Should you have a suggestion for a topic or a presenter, please feel free to contact Dorota or Ellen (i.e. ART).
